What do I need to start driving lessons?
You need to be at least 17 years old (16 if you have the mobility part of the PIP), have your provisional driving license and be able to read a standard number plate from 20 metres.
How do I apply for my provisional driving license?
To apply for your provisional driving license you need to be at least 15 years and 9 months old. You must be able to read a standard number plate from 20 metres. Have been given permission to live in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) for at least 185 days. It currently costs £34 to apply online.
How many driving lessons will I need?
In the UK, there is no legal minimum number of driving lessons required. However, the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) estimates the average learner needs about 45 hours of professional lessons alongside 22 hours of private practice to pass.
